Final certification

A correct acceptance of fire-fighting materials and a valid supervision of the laying and installation of systems, allows the final certification and testing of the systems, which are an essential phase for achieving fire compliance.

The certifications normally produced relate to the fire resistance (CERT. REI) of elements in steel, reinforced concrete, wood, masonry, aluminum and glass, to the Products used (DICH. PROD.) With particular reference to reaction to fire and tests of fire-fighting systems (CERT. IMP.).

These documents are of primary importance: The DICH model. PROD. 2008 "Declaration concerning classified products for the purposes of reaction and resistance to fire and door opening devices" signs the correspondence to the fire prevention project of the performance of the typological products used in construction. The form must be completed and signed by a professional registered in the lists of the Ministry of the Interior referred to in the law of 7 December 1984, n. 818.

The form must be completed for both construction products and plant engineering products (eg fire collars). The installers' "declarations of correct installation" and material certifications must be attached to the model, as well as a plan that recalls the elements identified in the corresponding completed DICH.PROD.-2008 model.

Regarding the CERT model. REI 2008 "Certification of load-bearing and / or separating structural elements classified for fire resistance purposes, with the exception of doors and closing elements.

This model certifies the fire resistance of the building elements used in the work. The model concerns both building components (e.g. walls, beams, pillars, floors) and plant components (e.g. fire dampers) with a load-bearing and / or separating function, with the exception of doors and closing elements. The evaluation of the resistance must take place according to the procedures indicated in the Ministerial Decree February 16, 2007.

These methods (alternatives to each other) are three:

  • tabular method (attribution of resistance by means of tables present in the decree itself);
  • experimental method (attribution of resistance through test reports - since September 2012 issued only according to European criteria)
  • analytical method (through engineering calculations).

The tested product must be used on site in accordance with the indications contained in the report in the case of direct application. Otherwise, a "technical file" from the manufacturer is required which extends its use through additional laboratory tests.

If the method used is the tabular one, then the CERT.REI.-2008 form can be filled in and signed by a technician NOT registered in the ministerial lists referred to in law 818/84. If, on the other hand, the method chosen is the second or the third then the professional MUST be enrolled in these lists.

In addition, instrumental checks of the extinguishing systems present are carried out, through the use of Venturi meters. This verification is necessary to ascertain the presence of the requisites envisaged by the UNI 10779 standard according to the risk class defined by the applicable vertical standard and by the Ministerial Decree 20/12/2012.
